Ninite: The Easiest way to get applications

My friend forwarded this to me.  Really cool find.  There are applications that we geeks use all the time; give these a shot :)

Save desktop icons layout position

Just like everyone else out there, I have several web and application shortcuts on my desktop and I always change exactly where they sit and probably the most annoying thing that happens is when Windows decides it doesn’t like that it resets them.  Call it being anal or whatever but I WANT them to sit where I want them to.  Here’s a ligtweight application that allows users to save the current desktop layout so whenever they get realigned all I have to do is right click anywhere on the desktop and hit ‘restore desktop’ and BAM!!  They’re back to where I wanted them.  Visit Desktop Restore’s website.

AIM Pidgin connection issue

So for the last two days I haven’t been able to sign onto AIM from home.  I’m a Pidgin chat client user so this only applies to those that are as well.

If you’ve been receiving the following message while trying to connect “Received unexpected response from http://api.oscar.aol.com/aim/startOSCARSession” it means your connection issues are caused by an invalid SSL certificate and you’ll have to disabled SSL for the time being.

Read more about it here on Pidgin’s support site: Pidgin connection problem

Here’s a screenshot of what to look for:
